Crosslake/Manhattan Beach
(population 2,139)
Crosslake is truly a northwoods
village. It is situated on the
Whitefish Chain with 14
interconnected, island-studded
lakes, making this a boaters
paradise. Unique shops, great
golfing and delicious food
served in restaurants on or off
the lake are plentiful in this
charming community. A
biking/walking trail extends
throughout the commercial
district and links to a trail
along the shoulder of County
Road 16 which connects to the
paved Paul Bunyan Trail.
Crosslake is known for its
community events which consist
of the annual St. Patrick's Day
Parade, 4th of July Celebration,
Crosslake Days, and Winterfest.
Continuing
north the neighboring community
of Manhattan Beach on Big Trout
Lake, the north central lake of
the Whitefish Chain of Lakes, is
just two square miles in size
with a year round population of
about 60 that jumps to more than
100 when seasonal cabin owners
and guests return for the
summer.
